Our Story

About Us

Trellis Life Management

We did not create the field of well-being any more than American business magnate, Henry Ford, invented the automobile. However, like the iconic industrialist, we have developed a process we believe has revolutionized the way to being healthy, happy, and satisfied with life.

For Ford, it was the assembly line and his realization that creating a process to piece together key individual components in a successive, mutually supportive manner would more efficiently and effectively produce the vehicle—a means to an end in a systems-based approach.

Like Ford, Trellis LM knows that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. For us, this is our Brain-Mind-Body System (BMBS™). This system cannot be optimized by working with the individual parts, rather must be managed in a synergistic way. The result is an integrated, practical and, manageable way to fundamental and sustainable well-being.

We have spent decades scouring the landscape and studying/testing the many individual (and valid) approaches, from ancient practices to cutting-edge performance-enhancement techniques. From that exhaustive exploration, we have woven a lattice of best approaches to help people, teams and organizations move toward their boundless capacity.

We bring together the most accurate information, the best techniques, and the most effective psychometric tools/assessments from across the well-being domains and deliver them in an interwoven system. Like the lattice in a trellis, the package provides the necessary structure and support to achieve optimal growth in all aspects of your life.

We understand when and how various approaches are most effective and meet each client in their context.

Mission

We teach science-based techniques and use highly researched tools to bridge the gap from desiring improvement, increasing self-awareness, setting concrete goals, and, ultimately, to attaining sustained, meaningful change.

Vision

To provide the necessary support and structure for true, meaningful, and sustained positive change for individuals, groups and, ultimately, societies. We do this by helping people understand and optimize their brain-mind-body systems.

George
Co-founder, Coach & Trainer, Speaker

George truly believes in the “Whole of One Approach” to brain, mind, and body fitness and well-being. His mantra: “The courage to change is the initial footstep along the pathway to personal growth, evolution, and the attainment of limitless capacity.”

George has accumulated over forty-three years of combined experience within the Department of Defense (DoD) in uniform – U.S. Army – and as a federal employee, both civil service and contractor. During his Army career spanning thirty-one years – twenty-eight as an officer –his key military areas of expertise included leadership development; force management and development; and tactical, operational, and strategic planning and execution in peacetime and combat. Throughout this entire period, George was a change manager, mentor, and developer of leaders. As a Department of Defense civil servant, George supported the NATO-led military operations in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Resolute Support) as a senior advisor. In this capacity, he provided critical guidance, advice, and mentorship in the areas of good governance and sustainable institutional capacity building to key leaders within the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan security ministries. As with his time in uniform, these missions called on his skills in change management and leadership development, and leveraged his emotional and cultural intelligence.

Since 2015 George has served as program and course manager of the Defense Security Cooperation University’s (DSCU) Ministry of Defense Advisors (MoDA) and Defense Advisors Program (DAP) training endeavors. During this time, he has planned, managed, and executed the training of over 400 career Department of Defense career employees and United States military service members enabling them to effectively serve globally with strategic partner countries at the ministerial/cabinet level.

George Reynolds has a B.A. in Business Management, M.S. in Strategic Studies, and an M.A. in Military Studies. He is also a graduate of both the US Army War College and the US Army Command and General Staff College as well as the US Army Force Management School.

Maya Mizuki
Chief Communications Officer

Maya has the unique experience of being Trellis cofounder, Colleen Mizuki's daughter as well as her (involuntary but grateful) life-long student. From an early age, Maya was invited to engage with her mother on the concepts, curiosities, and research that eventually evolved into what is now Trellis Life Management. Maya maintains a long standing passion for understanding people, connecting with them, and helping them connect with each other.

After beginning her academic career as a Communication major, Maya discovered a love for the science of language, its usage, and its implications. This led her to receive a B.A. in Linguistics (emphasis in sociocultural linguistics) from the University of California Santa Barbara. Maya has volunteered with First Decision Education Group, assisting in teaching English as a second language (L2) at schools in Beijing and Kunming, China. She went on to work as Marketing Coordinator at C2 California Clean, while also volunteering with the Department of Defense Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program as Instructor Manager.

Maya looks forward to a life of exploring all corners of the world, however Croatia and France hold a special place in Maya's heart. She has spent a significant amount of time immersed in the two countries, their cultures, and their languages.

Wherever she finds herself located, Maya feels grounded in the natural world, observing the intelligence and flow of the systems we exist in. In her down time she enjoys reading, writing, listening to podcasts and music, exploring various art mediums, and growing her collection of increasingly irrelevant facts.
